A guide to drone filming for real estate and construction

Aerial footage adds scale and context. Which shots work, how to document a site over time, and what to check about permissions.

A drone is the most effective way to show a property in its setting. One aerial shot shows what floor-area tables can't: location, view and scale.

Shots that work

Construction progress footage

Filming from the same points, height and angle at regular intervals builds a strong archive of progress. It works in investor reports, on social media and, at the end, in a "making of" film.

Light and timing

Hours near sunrise and sunset give soft light and long shadows that bring out façade textures. Wind reduces stability, so keep the schedule flexible.

Permissions and safety

In Türkiye, drones are regulated by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (SHGM). Device registration, pilot qualifications and, depending on the area, a separate flight permission may be required. Rules are updated from time to time, so check SHGM's current guidance before filming and work with a team that manages the process.
